The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa held conclave in the city of Alexandria from 24 to 26 October 2017. On the final day of deliberations, His Eminence, Metropolitan Damaskinos of Johannesburg and Pretoria presented the proposal regarding the establishment of St Mark’s Academy as well as the syllabus of the Diploma in Orthodox Theology. This proposal was met with much enthusiasm by the Patriarch and the members of the Holy Synod. They gave their blessing for its establishment and for work to continue.
