On Monday, 29 January 2018, His Beatitude, the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Damaskinos of Johannesburg and Pretoria, visited SAHETI. He was welcomed warmly by the Chairman of the Board, the Head, staff and pupils.
It was here that with great joy, His Beatitude announced the inauguration of St Mark’s Academy and officiated at the Blessing. The establishment of the Academy had previously been approved by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate during its 2017 session.
His Beatitude expressed His thanks to the Reverend Archimandrite Petros Parginos who took the initiative of founding and establishing the Academy and designing its various programmes. He also expressed His thanks to SAHETI for embracing the idea and hosting the Academy.
